"Jonah obeyed the word of the LORD and went to Nineveh" (Jonah 3,3)
Jonah goes to Nineveh as the word of God; At the end of Nadav's chemotherapy we started looking for a rehabilitation department. We went looking for the best place. I called in advance and arranged a meeting with the nurse in charge of one of Israel's most prestigious rehabilitation institutions. When I got to the meeting on time, I waited for the nurse for about half an hour, and when she finally went to talk to me, she said, "Actually, I was not supposed to meet you because my time is limited; The air in Ra'anana does not heal and I promise you nothing and anyway the rehabilitation is limited to a couple of months ". I was very upset to hear the tone of her speech and her negative attitude; We immediately rejected this institution. Later we realized that the nurse only expressed aloud what others thought and did not say - that if you are already disabled, it is better to be an IDF disabled person, for whom there is no restriction during the rehabilitation period - the resources in this case come from deep pockets ... or in other words – money is no object.
"וַיָּקָם יוֹנָה וַיֵּלֶךְ אֶל-נִינְוֵה כִּדְבַר יְהוָה" (יונה ג' 3)
יונה הולך לנינוה כדבר ה'; ואילו אנו, בתום הטיפולים הכימותרפיים של נדב התחלנו בחיפושים אחר מחלקת שיקום. יצאנו לחפש את המקום הטוב ביותר. התקשרתי מראש וקבעתי פגישה עם האחות האחראית באחד המוסדות הנחשבים ביותר בארץ בתחום השיקום. כשהגעתי לפגישה במועד, חיכיתי לאחות כחצי שעה – וכשסוף סוף התפנתה לדבר אתי, פתחה ואמרה: "בעצם לא הייתי אמורה להפגש אתך כי זמני מצומצם; האויר ברעננה אינו מבריא ואיני מבטיחה כלום וכמו כן תוך חודשיים כך או כך השיקום יסתיים". חרה לי מאוד לשמוע את סגנון הדיבור וגישתה השלילית; מיד פסלנו מוסד זה.
מאוחר יותר הבנו כי אותה אחות רק ביטאה בקול רם את אשר האחרים חשבו ולא אמרו – שאם כבר להיות נכה, עדיף להיות נכה צה"ל, אשר לגביהם אין הגבלה במשך השיקום – המשאבים במקרה זה באים מכיסים עמוקים...
