The book of Jonah, life and my reflections #3
In the book "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" (by J.K Rowling), Harry, Ron, and Luna are described as arriving at the Hogwarts school.
They approach the horseless-drawn carriages that take them to school, and Harry suddenly notices that, in fact, the carriages are horse-drawn. Ron does not see them, but Harry and Luna see them clearly.
Later, Luna explains to Harry that only those who have experienced loss or suffering can see the horses.
It is clear that my reading of the Book of Jonah is greatly influenced by the fact that "now I can see the horses"; My angle of vision underwent a fundamental change.
In the Book of Jonah, the captain represents the wake-up call, the knowledge that there is no time and place for despair; In times of distress and breaking I must overcome, enlist, do something and avoid ignoring or procrastination.
It is necessary to act, as we know, "God helps those who help themselves”.
"וַיִּקְרַב אֵלָיו רַב הַחֹבֵל וַיֹּאמֶר לוֹ מַה-לְּךָ נִרְדָּם קוּם קְרָא אֶל אֱלֹהֶיךָ אוּלַי יִתְעַשֵּׁת הָאֱלֹהִים לָנוּ וְלֹא נֹאבֵד” (יונה פרק א׳ פסוק ו׳)
So the shipmaster came to him, and said unto him: 'What meanest thou that thou sleepest? arise, call upon thy God, if so be that God will think upon us, that we perish not.‘ (Jonah 1 verse 6)
בספר "הארי פוטר ומסדר עוף החול" (מאת ג׳יי.קיי רולינג) מתוארת הגעתם של הארי, רון ולוּנה לבית-הספר בהוגוורטס.
הם מתקרבים לכרכרות נטולות הסוסים המסיעות אותם לביה"ס, ופתאום מבחין הארי כי בעצם, הכרכרות כן רתומות לסוסים. רון אינו רואה אותם ואילו הארי ולוּנה מבחינים בהם בבירור.
מאוחר יותר מסבירה לוּנה להארי כי רק מי שחווה אבדן או סבל יכול לראות את הסוסים.
ברור כי קריאתי בספר יונה מושפעת מאוד מכך שכעת "אני יכולה לראות את הסוסים"; זוית הראיה שלי עברה שינוי מהותי.
בספר יונה, מייצג רב החובל את קריאת ההשכמה, את הידיעה שאין זמן ומקום לייאוש; בשעת מצוקה ושבר עלי להתגבר, להתגייס, לעשות מעשה לא להתעלם ולא להתמהמה.
יש לפעול, כי כידוע, "אלוהים עוזר למי שעוזר לעצמו”.
